This article is only if you previously used the Classic login method, and have not yet migrated to an NHS login.
As of 1st June 2022, patients are only be able to log in to the Health App using NHS login details.
Migration of your existing Health App login method
If you wish to continue to use the Health App, with the same login details you were using with our Classic login method, the following steps will guide you through this process:
Step 1: Select the blue 'Continue with NHS login' button.
Step 2: You will then be taken to the NHS login screen. Follow the on-screen prompts (provided by NHS login) to sign-in with an existing NHS login account, or register for a new NHS login account.

Your NHS login details are managed by the NHS login team and unfortunately, our support team will not be able to help you change those details.
Your data is verified by the NHS, nothing is stored on our servers without your explicit consent.

What is an NHS login?
NHS login allows you to access a range of digital health services, with one username and password.
Your NHS login method will make it easier and quicker for you to securely access your Health App account. Besides using this Health App, NHS login allows you to access lots of different healthcare websites and apps with just one set of login details.
NHS login is simply a new login method for your existing Health App account with us. (You won't be switching over to the NHS App).
What do you need to set up your NHS login account?
- In order to set up your NHS login account, you will need an email address, phone number and photo ID.

You can prove who you are by using one of the following:
- Passport (except a Syrian passport)
- UK driving licences (full or provisional)
- European driving licences (full)
- European national identity card (except a paper Italian ID card or Greek ID card)
- UK residence card or biometric residence permit (BRP)
The NHS has provided more information on proving your identity: - You'll need to send a photo of your I.D. and record a short video of your face while you say 4 numbers.
You will be shown 4 numbers and you can record what they are by:- saying the numbers
- signing the numbers, with British Sign Language
- or writing the numbers down and showing them on the recording
If you wish to apply for NHS login without providing photo I.D. and recording a short video, you can obtain the following from your GP surgery:
- An account ID
- An ODS code (which could be called an Organisation Code or Practice ID)
- A Linkage key (which could be called a Passphrase)
- You don't need your NHS number to register for NHS login, however, it may make the process quicker if you do.
