NHS login allows you to access a range of digital health services with one username and password.
Your NHS login account will make it easier and quicker for you to securely access your Health App account.
When you set up your NHS login, you'll need to prove who you are. This is to connect securely to your NHS record. Once you’ve proved who you are, you'll be given an NHS login which will allow you access to apps and websites wherever you see the ‘NHS login’ button.
You will be able to safely and securely view your medical records, order repeat prescriptions, and book appointments through the app.
Due to the security built into NHS login, it can take 30 minutes to go through the process and up to two hours to be verified (we know it's a bit painful, apologies).
What you will need
You can set up your NHS login username and password using your email address and mobile phone number.
You can prove who you are by using one of the following:
- UK or European driving licence
- European national identity card
You'll need to send a photo of your I.D. and record a short video of your face while you say 4 numbers.
You don't need your NHS number to register for NHS login, however, it may make the process quicker if you do.
To help you understand the process the NHS have developed a short video for patients and surgeries.
